A MAN has died after being struck by a train.
Police were called to Lurdin Lane, Standish, in Wigan, at 2.22pm on Sunday following reports a person had been struck by a train.
A 35-year-old man, from Wigan, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Our officers were called to an area near Lurdin Lane, Standish, Wigan, at 2.22pm on Sunday, following reports of a person being struck by a train.
“Colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service also attended but a 35-year-old-man from Wigan was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and the man’s family has been informed.
“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
