Police are appealing for help in catching a man who tried to grab and kiss a stranger.

The woman was walking near North Road in Lancaster on Tuesday, May 28 when the man approached her near a shop.

He grabbed her by the arm, tried several times to kiss before laughing and running off.

He was thought to be part of a group of men and may have seen it as a prank, but the woman was left upset by the incident, which happened about 8.30pm.

PC Ben Hanley, from Lancaster Police, added: “This incident has understandably shaken up the victim, who was by herself at the time.

“Regardless of whether or not the suspect intended this as a prank, members of the public have a right to go about their business without the fear of being accosted.

“We are conducting CCTV enquiries with businesses in the local area, and will be releasing images of the suspect to the public as soon as they become available.”

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 30 years old, and wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans
