A man had a lucky escape after falling into Preston Dock trying to rescue his dog.
Passersby noticed a man shouting for help in the water near DFS shortly after midnight yesterday and called for help.
But by the time police and firefighters arrived, he had managed to get himself out of the water and was being checked over by paramedics. The dog was also rescued.
John Taylor of Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: “I can fully understand what motivates someone to do this, but there are risks and we wouldn’t advise it. The best course of action would be to dial 999 and we will come out.”
