A man was airlifted to hospital this afternoon after a road traffic collision near Lancaster.
Fire crews, police and paramedics attended the scene in Lancaster Road, Hornby.
A VW car and a lorry were believed to be involved.
The car driver was taken to hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries after being cut free by firefighters.
The accident closed the road and led to major delays.
A fire service spokesman said: “Firefighters undertook a difficult extracation of the driver and worked with great effect alongside Paramedics to release the driver, who was transferred to Preston by air ambulance.”
