Man airlifted to hospital after lamp post crash

A man was airlifted to hospital after his car collided with a lamp post this morning.

The 48-year-old man was saved from the wreckage taken to Royal Preston Hospital, Fulwood, Preston after the incident on Broadway, Morecambe at 9.30am this morning.

Morecambe fire and rescue service shut the road to rescue the man and the road is still closed.

A spokesman for Morecambe fire service said no other vehicles were involved.

They said: “We were called to an incident on Broadway at 9.30am and when we got there we found a man trapped in a car.

“He had crashed his car into a lampost.

“We managed to free the man and he was airlifted to hospital by the North West Air Ambulance Service.”

Lancashire police are not treating the accident as suspicions.
