A man was airlifted to hospital after he suffered a serious leg injury in Dunsop Bridge, say Ambulance Services.

The Air Ambulance and volunteers from Bowland Mountain Rescue Team were scrambled to the riverbank in the picturesque village at around 2.30pm on Sunday, July 8.

Mountain Rescue volunteers assisted the ambulance service in retrieving the man from the side of the river and transporting him to the air ambulance.

The man is reported to have suffered a serious break to his leg and was taken via air ambulance to Blackburn Hospital.

A spokesman for the Ambulance Service said: "We were called to the river bank where we sent an ambulance and the air ambulance to reports of an injured man in his 40s.

"The man had suffered a bad break to his leg and he was taken to hospital."
