Man absconds from Kirkham Prison

A man serving time for burglary and robbery has absconded from prison in Kirkham.

Police said William Tams, 55, who also goes by various other aliases, walked out of HMP Kirkham on Tuesday at some time between noon and 5pm where he was serving a five year, four month sentence for burglary and robbery offences.

DS Angela Grey from Blackpool Police said: “We are keen to trace Tams and return him to prison immediately.

“If you have seen him or know of his whereabouts, please contact us. Similarly if Tams himself sees this appeal I would urge him to hand himself in at the nearest police station.”

He is described as white, 5ft 9ins with either blue or brown eyes, grey hair and speaks with a Scottish accent. He has a number of tattoos including dots on his left hand, shamrocks on his right arm, female names on his arms and an image of a swallow and a heart on his left arm.

He is known to have links to Lancashire, the West Midlands in particular Wolverhampton, Glasgow, Staffordshire and Nottinghamshire.
