Preston-based charity, Methodist Action (North West) Ltd, welcomed more than 100 ladies to an evening of shopping, pampering and indulgence at their Ladies’ Evening at St Martin’s Parish Hall, in Fulwood.

Guests were able to grab a bargain, courtesy of the Fashion Show and Sale Company, who modelled a wide range of clothing from High Street names.

“There really was something for everyone, with stalls provided by Stella and Dot, Ashleigh Jade’s Boutique and Neal’s Yard Remedies to name but a few.

“A Prosecco bar was also available and luxury cakes were provided by My Sweet Retreat of Southport.

“Sarah Harris from Colour Me Beautiful gave a very informative presentation about the importance of selecting the correct colour of clothing and make-up, then went on to demonstrate a number of creative ways to tie a scarf.”

The event raised £1,000, which will go towards keeping services including accommodation, washing facilities, food and support at Fox Street, in Preston.

CEO of Methodist Action, Stephen Hetherington, adds: “We were absolutely over-whelmed with the response for this event, which raised £1,000, selling out weeks in advance.

“It really is very reassuring that people in the county are so keen to support our charity.

“Cuts by the local authorities in September this year mean that £190,000 support for the homeless accommodation in Fox Street, in Preston, will cease.

“Just because the funding isn’t available doesn’t mean that the need will disappear – and we intend to ensure that Fox Street continues to meet the complex needs of homeless people in Preston and give them a future.”
