Major congestion on M6 a mystery
Tailbacks stretching back more than 10 miles caused chaos for drivers today in Lancashire
The M6 and M61 northbound was massively congested between junction 8 at Chorley and the Broughton turn-off at lunchtime.
All lanes were stopped or down to 40mph.
Despite signs of debris on the M61 near Walton Summit both the police and ambulance services said they were unaware of any major incident.
The M6 was clearing by 1pm, with congestion remaining around junction 8 and the junction with the M6 near Preston.
