North West Motorway Police warned motorists to expect delays, saying there were lane closures in place northbound and the whole carriageway "southbound stopped at present following a single vehicle minor injury RTC that has breached the central barrier."

They said emergency services were in attendance and that "as soon as a southbound lane can be opened, we will get traffic moving again. Expect delays".

Just after 9.30pm one lane of the southbound carriageway was reopened. Police have warned motorists they may need to take extra time to complete their journeys this evening.
