Longridge woman completes sponsored swim for DanceSyndrome's Edinburgh Festival bid

Pauline Hall, who has been involved with DanceSyndrome for three years, took part in a sponsored swim, swimming half a mile to raise money. She has been collecting in sponsorship from her friends and people who know her through her other voluntary work at Longridge YMCA shop and Barnacre School, where she helps children with their reading, and has raised almost £300.Pauline, 47, said: “I love dancing with DanceSyndrome. It is fantastic. I loved going to Edinburgh last year and the audience loved us. I’m raising money because we really want to go back.”DanceSyndrome managing director, Dawn Vickers, said “We are so proud of what Pauline has achieved.“She is a dedicated volunteer and fund-raiser. We are absolutely thrilled at the prospect of returning to Edinburgh and we are really inspired by the ambition and determination of our dancers to raise the money to make this a reality. We’re so grateful to local people and businesses who have got behind the fund-raising appeal and helped the dancers to follow their dreams.”DanceSyndrome, founded by dancer Jen Blackwell, provides inclusive dance workshops and leadership training for people with and without disabilities. Last year, the dancers followed their dreams and performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.The success of the 2017 trip gave the dancers a significant confidence boost and as a result, they now feel able to do an even bigger trip to the Fringe in August and are now working hard to generate enough sponsorship from businesses and individuals to cover the costs of a longer stay in Edinburgh.
