Life threatening injuries after two car smash on A6 near Lancaster University

One person has suffered 'life threatening injuries' after a crash on the A6 opposite Lancaster University.

Emergency services were at the scene at Ellel, between Lancaster and Galgate, where the road was closed in both directions.

A police spokesman said: “We were called at 3.15pm to reports of a collision between two cars on the A6.

The ambulance service, air ambulance and fire service were called to the scene between Lancaster city centre and Galgate.

“Two people have had to be cut from the vehicles, and it is believed one person has suffered life threatening injuries.”

He said two people had been taken to Royal Lancaster Infirmary, while one person was airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital.

One vehicle involved was a blue Citroen.
