Rollercoaster crash victim Vicky Balch has spoken for the first time about how she thought she would die in the 50mph smash.
The 20-year-old from Leyland described how she was covered in blood and frightened to look down at her knees when the first row of The Smiler in Alton Towers smashed into an empty carriage.
She said: “I didn’t think I would make it, I was in that much pain. I wouldn’t wish it upon anybody.
“I didn’t think I could cope with the pain for as long as I did and even in hospital I was in that much pain I didn’t particularly want to be there.
“I wanted to faint again so I didn’t have to be there.”
Having battled through six operations, Vicky lost the fight to save her right leg, but is now determined to walk and drive again.
