Mr Wardle, who was originally from the South Fylde area and attended Arnold School and Blackpool and Fylde College, was well-known in the local area thanks to his work as a personal trainer.
Today, tributes flooded in from friends and colleagues of the popular young dad who expressed their shock and devastation at the news.
A tribute to Mr Wardle on his personal training business page reads: "It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of our friend, trainer, supporter and all round motivator Ste.
"I know that this might come as quite a shock, but his girlfriend and family are asking for privacy at this time.
"I'd like to take this time to say thank you to each and every one of you for sharing your progress with Ste.
"When he spoke to me, he spoke so fondly of every journey he went on with every one of his client.
"You weren't just clients, many of you grew to become close friends and I know he treasured that.
"He loved his work. It filled him with joy to see people making changes and transforming themselves.
"Wherever you are, raise a glass, light a candle or think of your fondest memories with Ste.
"We're going to miss you man."
Police say that the death is not being treated as suspicious at this stage.
A file has been passed to the coroner.
