Police have been called in following a blaze in the public toilets at Clitheroe Castle.

Firefighters wearing breathing tackled the blaze after smoke was seen billowing from the roof of the toilet block in the grounds of the historic building on Saturday afternoon.

Damage was only minor, but the building had to be cleared of heavy smoke.

A fire brigade spokesman said: “An investigation is now underway by the police.”
