More than 40 firefighters raced to the scene of a major blaze in Mawdesley this morning after a car works in an industrial unit went up in flames, say fire services.
Eight crews from across the county were called to the fire at RB Motorsports on Dark Lane at around 4.45am.
The fire, which was described by firefighters as "well established" when they arrived, was alight for over four hours while crews battled to control the blaze.
A spokesman for Lancashire fire services said: "Initially four pumps were called to the scene but this was increased to eight pumps. We used a brand new piece of equipment called a Stinger which penetrates the walls with spikes and targets water through the walls to the source of the fire.
"The fire is now under control and the damping down process has begun."
Police confirmed that nobody was injured during the blaze.
Force Incident Manager for Lancashire Police Nigel Barraclough said: "Eight crews attended a fire in Towngate Works in Mawdesley. No road closures were necessary due to its rural location and there have been no reports of any injuries."
No cause of the fire has been established and a fire investigation is due to take place.
