Firefighters are still at the end stages of putting out a blaze in Woodplumpton after receiving a call at 3.45pm this afternoon.
The incident began when tyres ignited in a yard on Ambrose Hall Lane in the village, just outside Preston.
Police have temporarily blocked off that road while the fire officers tackle the blaze, with four engines from Preston, Fulwood and Penwortham.
A Lancashire Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “We’re at the damping down stage, now.”
“There has been a lot of thick acrid smoke so people in the local area have been advised to keep their windows and doors closed at this time as a precaution.”
