The Green candidate in Preston has said she is hoping the party will do well among the city’s students.
Gemma Christie was the first candidate to arrive at the General Election count at Preston Guild Hall.
She said: “I am excited, it is the first time I have been to a count so it is very exciting and very interesting.
“We are just waiting to see what we’ve got and how much our message has got out there.
“We’ve done a lot of positive campaigning and it will be interesting to see if the message has got across and whether people want to change the status quo.
“We are interested in what the figure will be in University ward because we have a strong student support.
“We are just interested across the board really to see if we have got people out who have not voted before, if we have got more people engaged with our message.”
