One of Preston’s oldest alehouses is getting a facelift to return it to its original look.
Owners of the Grade II Lister Olde Blue Bell in Church Street have revealed they are to remove the white paint from the front of the pub as part of a restoration project.
R & M Gaskarth have also applied for permission from the city council’s planning committee to demolish a single storey extension at the side which was not part of the original 18th century building.
Workmen are to blast off up to 15 coats of paint from the front using water jets after it was revealed they were flaking.
“Re-decorating the front elevation would not be successful due to its poor condition,” said a statement.
