Lancashire set for heatwave as temperatures soar

Dust off your flip-flops and polish those sunglasses - because tomorrow could be one of the hottest days of the year.

According to The Met Office, Preston could be basking in heat rising as high as 29 degrees.

The United Kingdom’s national weather service predicts a warm start, but between 12pm and 10pm, the temperature won’t drop below 25 degrees.

But a weather warning has also been issued, meaning anyone planning to take advantage of the warm day might want to pack a brolly.

The Met Office predicts thunderstorms could happen in the later part of the day, although they could hold off until later in the week.

The rest of the week doesn’t look quite as hot although it may be time to start sleeping on top of the covers, with the service suggesting Preston could be in for some muggy nights.

Although around 20 degrees until Friday, it suggests the sun could be interrupted by cloud and rain as well as some light wind.
