It is a spicy time for one personal trainer from Lancashire.

Steve Cody is having the time of his life after returning from America for the second time to train former Spice Girl Melanie Brown.

As rumours fly that former pop group the Spice Girls are heading for a reunion tour – Steve reveals what the scary star is really like after spending another three weeks at her home in Los Angeles.

“She is just a normal person, a great mum and she is very much focused with the business side of things,” said the 55-year-old trainer, from Morecambe. “She is very northern and says it like it is. She doesn’t get phased by the magazines because that’s the lifestyle she has chosen. If they are happy to put me up and have me back it makes me feel that I am doing something right.”

Steve has been in the fitness industry for more than 30 years and was a former physical training instructor in the army.

During one bootcamp session at the Peak District, which also attracted celebrities like Fearne Cotton and Danielle Lloyd, his career transformed.

Steve said: “Stephen, Mel’s husband, wanted to get fit. Fast forward a bit and they invited me out for several months in LA.”

The fitness guru stayed in Mel’s studio opposite their house. Mel enjoyed his training so much he was invited down to London during filming for the X-Factor and just recently in LA for three weeks.

Steve is keeping tight-lipped about reunion rumours but admits Mel has some exciting things planned.

Steve holds retro circuit training classes at The Winter Gardens, Morecambe every Monday and Wednesday from 6.30pm-7.30pm.
