A stark message is being issued by the Electricity North West this half term - danger of death signs on electricity substations and electricity poles are there for a reason.
Mark Williamson, operations director for the group said: “The electricity network includes thousands of substations and miles of overhead power lines and poles across the North West.
“They all have yellow danger of death signs on them. The electricity equipment is designed and installed to the highest standards and it is safe if left alone. So we’re reminding everyone to keep out.
“If a ball or other object ends up in a substation compound children should be reminded to leave it there and not be tempted to reach it. They can call us and we’ll get it for them safely. If you are playing in a field with overhead power lines then keep your distance.”
