A talented bartender is the toast of the London cocktail crowd after whipping up an award-winning unique coriander-infused gin and tonic creation.

Mollie Atherton, 22, from Whalley, has just been crowned winner of the Brockmans Gin/BAR magazine ‘Night Like No Other’ national cocktail competition for her gin fusion called ‘The Lady Austissimo’.

The University of Bristol Pharmacology graduate is head bartender at Northcote, in Langho, and beat hundreds of other UK bartenders for her Brockmans Gin drink.

Mollie said: “The idea for this cocktail came from thinking about the botanicals used in the Brockmans Gin.

“Rather than trying to add new flavours to the gin, I thought I might enhance the gin’s natural flavours using the botanicals used in the distillation process.

“A gin and tonic is a thing of beauty and I hope that with this cocktail I have managed to eke out the real essence of what makes Brockmans Gin what it is and combine it with a timeless classic.”

Mollie’s prize was to be whisked away to Barcelona this week for a spectacular multi-sensory party, dubbed a Night Like No Other.”

The contest judges were marketing director and co-founder of Brockmans Gin, Bob Fowkes and the editor of Bar magazine, Mark Ludmon. Mr Ludmon said: “This is very drinkable with a lovely balance of flavours and a delightful colour. It really complements the gin. It seems a relatively simple recipe but is very unusual and delicious. I congratulate Mollie on a fine recipe that does justice to the unique flavours in Brockmans Gin.”
