These women were more than happy to do the conga as they enjoyed a lavish lunch to raise funds for Rainbow House.

Guests in all their finery attended Rainbow House’s Ladies Day, supported by Unique Ladies Network and Windoworld, in the Invincibles Lounge at Preston North End, raising more than £26,000 for the conductive education charity.

After enjoying a glass of champagne on arrival, the guests sat down to a two-course lunch with live entertainment from singer Michael Cosgrove, who stunned his audience with his large repertoire of songs, including swing, pop, jazz and Motown. He even encouraged the women to join in a giant conga line.

One of the highlights of the afternoon was the charity raffle, with all funds going towards Rainbow House, which supports adults and children with life limiting conditions.

Charity raffle prizes included vouchers for beauty/hair products, afternoon tea, food hampers and clothes.

Jennifer Sage won the hamper in the ticket draw whilst Flo Bradshaw, from Leyland, won £50 and a bottle of bubbly as the best dressed filly. Nicola Morris, of Leyland, was the winner of a diamond ring donated by HSBC.

Live coverage from Royal Ascot included the Royal Procession and BD Stadia helped the ladies with winning tips. Guests also enjoyed browsing a range of exhibitors’ stands including hand bags, clothing, candles, beauty and photography.

Ben Blackman, chief executive, Rainbow House, Mawdesley, says: “This was a great event for us and a fantastic result. Our thanks go to everyone who joined us and made the day such a great success.

“Special thanks go to Unique Ladies Network and Windoworld who supported the event; Preston North End and their managers and players for their support and for setting up the live coverage; The Villa for a lovely meal; BD Stadia for running the betting facilities; Barclays and Arden Lea Nurseries for the ladies gifts and the team at Rainbow House, especially Nicola Parkinson, for organising the day.

“There were lots of winners, but especially Rainbow House. The funds raised will help us provide exceptional services for children and young people with neurological and physical disabilities.”
