A man who was seen brandishing a knife while walking around Preston was apprehended following a police chase.

Police were called to Nimes Street at 2.48pm yesterday.

The man, age 27, attempted to flee but was cornered by police officers and a police dog, PD Sirius.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife, possession of cannabis, and resisting arrest.

A spokesman said: "He refused to cooperate and continued to show aggression towards both police and members of the public. PD Sirius detained the male and the knife was recovered. A safe ending to what could have been a totally different outcome. Well done team."
