Is maths wizard Joshua Redmond Chorley’s brainiest child?
At just nine years old, the Euxton youngster has already gained an A* in his maths GCSE.
“We are delighted. His father said it was the greatest achievement in his life.”Cancy, Joshua’s mum
Joshua achieved top marks in the exam at the third time of asking.
In his first exam he gained a C and then achieved a B.
But it really was third time lucky, when he aced the exam to get a coveted A*.
Joshua, who is home schooled, studied for the exam by doing all of Khan Academy’s online courses twice.
The whizzkid has his sights set on a future of coding, programming and computing.
Not many nine year olds have an A* in maths to their name, but Joshua’s brother Ethan, 11, also achieved the same feat.
Ethan took his GCSE maths exam in 2013 and for his studies he read a 300-page maths text book.
The impressive brothers certainly have a lot in common.
Mum Cancy said: “I do want the two boys to be different but at the moment it seems they have a lot in common.
“He sat the exam in November, 2014, and we received confirmation in January.
“We are delighted. His father said it was the greatest achievement in his life.
“We are happy to give them a break from maths now and let them do other things.”
Joshua and Ethan certainly have a bright future.
Already, Ethan has experienced tutoring as he helped Joshua study and now he is helping his five-year-old sister Amy with her reading.
Cancy added: “It’s unbelievable, we’ve always taught the children to have a good attitude.
“They did all the courses online and I can’t thank the Khan Academy enough. We are educating the boys on how to start up their own businesses.
“They both seem very interested.”
