Volunteers are being urged to put their best foot forward to raise money for a charity.

A nine-mile walk to raise funds for Galloway’s Society for the Blind will set off from Arnside near Carnforth before finishing at Kents Bank near Grange three hours later. Queens Guide Cedric Robinson MBE will lead the walkers.

Kevin Lonergan, walk organiser for Galloway’s, said: “This year sees us celebrating our 30th walk across the bay and the Queens Guide celebrating 50 years since he was appointed guide.

“We would like to make the event extra special and are encouraging as many people as possible to take part.”

The charity helps more than 7,000 blind and partially sighted people.

The walk is the society’s major fundraising event, and people are needed to join in the fun on either Saturday, June 1 or Sunday, June 2.
