This summer Joanne Smith has worked on more than 100 weddings and events - but there’s one that stands out more than the rest.
For the events expert from Chorley is set to have her work showcased on one of the nation’s favourite soaps, Coronation Street.
Joanne runs Simply Bows and Chair Covers and is well known for her work across Lancashire, including in Preston and Chorley.
Producers for the ITV1 soap saw an event Joanne had ‘dressed’ and invited her to do the wedding of Tracy Barlow.
The episode of the wedding is due to be aired this week. Trouble-maker Tracy, played by Kate Ford, is set to marry bad boy Rob Donovan, played by Marc Baylis – but in true soap fashion, things don’t go smoothly on the day.
Joanne said being asked to work on the show was a real bonus for the company and something she is really proud of.
She said: “I work at lots of very well known hotels and venues across Lancashire and I was overwhelmed to be contacted by the people at Coronation Street.
“What a coup!
“It’s a real boost for Simply Bows and Chair Covers and we’re all so proud that our products will feature on TV.”
Joanne, who established Simply Bows and Chair Covers in 2011, works at venues including Alston Hall and Samlesbury Hall near Preston and Browsholme Hall in Clitheroe.
Last year, Joanne was named as one of the Best Venue Dressers in the Northwest Wedding Awards, as voted for by customers.
This is Joanne’s second TV appearance as she has also taken part in Channel 5’s The Hotel Inspector where she was asked to give her critique on a wedding set-up at The Bellingham Hotel in Wigan, which was updated and restored as part of the TV programme.
