Investigation underway after late night fire in Longton

An investigation is underway after fire crews were called to a late night fire in Longton.

Crews from Preston, Penwortham and Tarleton were called to reports of a detached building fire on Gill Lane at 22.28pm.

A Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "It was unclear whether there were persons still in the building, however crews quickly ascertained that there were no casualties involved."

Firefighters used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels and a ventilation unit to extinguish the fire.
