Hunt for man after ‘unprovoked assault’

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Leyland.

The 45-year-old man was followed by another man then attacked at the junction of Towngate and Hough Lane.

It happened at around 2.30am on Saturday, June 27.

PC Will Rimmington, from Chorley police, said: “This unprovoked assault has left an innocent victim with serious facial injuries requiring surgery and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened or who has any information that could help to identify the offender to come forward.”

The man was described as white, in his early 20s, approximately 6ft tall with short hair and some facial hair. He was believed to have been wearing a dark hooded top and knee-length shorts.
