A developer claims building around 50 new homes would help rejuvenate a village green.

Mactaggart and Mickel Homes have asked Fylde Council for outline planning permission to create up to 50 houses in Wrea Green, near Kirkham.

The development, on vacant farm land, would be accessed from Moss Side Lane.

A planning statement, submitted to the council on behalf of the developers by planning agents, says: “Historically, the village grew around the central green, although post-war development saw an emphasis of growth on the eastern and south-eastern side of the village which has left The Green becoming less the geographical centre.

“Importantly the application site is situated on the south western side of the village and it is considered that proposed development would make an important contribution in rebalancing the village and making The Green more central, bringing it back to its historical roots.”
