A new show site has been opened to demonstrate how homeowners can add value to their properties – and how best to do it.
The site at Housing Units in Failsworth has been built as a result of the growing demand across the North West for garden rooms, extensions and conservatories.
Five extra staff have been taken on by Your Choice to work at the site near Manchester as a result of the increased interest.
The company, which began life in 2005 as a windows and conservatories specialist, has steadily grown into a nation-wide full build and home improvements business, with its growth boosted by the current popularity of garden rooms and other types of extensions.
“With house prices rising, more people are choosing to stay in their homes and add an extension or garden room rather than trying to buy a new house,” said Eric Hargreaves of Your Choice. “It is a cost-effective alternative to moving home while also giving extra space.

An example of a garden room can be seen at the new show site along with examples of different types of extensions.
Unlike conservatories of the past, many garden rooms have tiled roofs and can be used all year round.
“They can be built to customer specifications as a completely bespoke room,” said Mr Hargreaves. “Some people use them as their offices, others as gyms, while many homeowners just use them as an extra living space.”
He said another option which adds value to a property is to re-roof an existing conservatory to make them more comfortable and environmentally friendly.
A tiled roof, Eco-hybrid Roof Insulation or new innovative Thermotec panels can make a big difference to energy bills and is much quicker and more cost-effective than replacing the whole conservatory, as well as an effective solution to condensation, mould or leaks in the existing roof, according to Mr Hargreaves.
If an extension is required a bespoke kitchen and bathroom with full ten-year guarantee can also be provided by Your Choice at the same time, adding even more value to the property.
A loft conversion or an orangery can increase the worth of a house and the company has a full design and build service, supplying all the necessary trades people, such as electricians, plumbers and joiners, meaning that further costs can be saved.
Shabby uPVC windows can decrease the value of a house, so the company also offers uPVC window painting services. The uPVC spray painting process gives protection for years to come, avoiding cracks and peeling.
