Hit a soft ball and take a swig of Prosecco

Chorley Cricket Club has been selected to host a special version of the game created chiefly to get more women invloved.

Branded in Lancashire as Prosecco Cricket, Soft Ball Cricket is a new, fun, fast, social game for all abilities featuring a - you guessed it - soft ball.

Alex Howarth from Chorley Cricket Club is delighted his club has been selected to host the prestigious festival for the England & Wales Cricket Board.

“We are part of a series of six festivals that are being rolled out across Lancashire and we hope this festival will help us attract more women to get involved in cricket,” he said.

“The festival is aimed at encouraging new women into cricket and their friends to come along to have a great first experience of the game. The fun and friendly games will be six-a-side, using a soft ball, under arm bowling and the rules are designed to make the games fun, fast and easy to pick up.

“There will also be a free glass of prosecco on arrival served in a branded glass, plenty of off field entertainment, plus a free t-shirt for all who take part. All equipment is provided.”

Prosecco Cricket or Soft Ball Cricket takes place on Friday, July 7, 6pm-9pm. It is for teams of six players.
