Historic Longton house to be given makeover

The owner of a Grade 2 Listed house in Longton, considered to be of national importance, has submitted a planning application to replace windows and an original ceiling beam.

Tuson’s Farmhouse in Marsh Lane is thought to be an early 17th century lower yeoman farmhouse and is of “special architectural and historic interest.”

The property is currently being sympathetically extended and the application is to replace its current rotten 1970s timber windows with ones more in keeping with the age of the building.

The beam, which was shortened in the past to fit a staircase, is to be replaced by a salvaged piece of timber of a similar age. The building was listed in 1984.
