Here's your chance to buy a double decker

Four former Fishwick’s double decker buses are up for sale.

They currently belong to Tyrers of Adlington, who took over the lease on six John Fishwick and Son Dennis Tridents, after the Leyland bus firm went bust in October 2015.

James Robb posted the information on the Leyland Memories facebook page. He said: “They are all in full working order and have been operating on regular services until only last week. Ideal vehicle for preservation or perhaps an opportunity for a quirky business venture . . . party bus, community library, mobile drop-in centre, food truck, cafe, oversized garden ornament.

“Own a piece of history and give a new lease of life to a local icon. I’m not selling, just thought the people of Leyland would appreciate being made aware.”

Tyrers confirmed the sale and said: “They’re surplus to our requirements. We’ve got new ones coming in.”

John Fishwick and Sons depot operated form Tuer Street, Leyland. The sudden closure of the company left fokk shocked. It emerged that “signifiant cash flow issues” were to blame.

Fishwick’s began trading in 1907 and initially started in the haulage industry. However, by 1910 it was operating transport services to local markets in and around the Leyland area. It provided bus services between Preston, Leyland and Chorley as well as holiday tours to locations throughout mainland UK and Europe.
