Two local hearing centres are appealing to the community to support the area’s deaf or hard of hearing population during this year’s national Deaf Awareness Week.

Specsavers Hearing Centres in Friargate, Preston, and Chapel Street, Chorley are calling for greater tolerance, and advise people to face the person when speaking to them, speak clearly and don’t shout, draw if necessary and don’t give up.

Brian Warburg of the Preston store, said: “Remember it’s important to have hearing checks as regularly as you would have a sight test, which is recommended every two years.”
