How It Works: By becoming a member of a photographic society you will be given extra tips on how the capture the perfect shot. It will also offer inspiration and is also a place to meet like minded people.Benefits: As well as documenting your life, photography provides a shift in perspective, as you’re literally looking through a new/different lens, often seeing the world differently.It provides motivation to get outside and connect with nature as you begin searching for and finding beauty in the world. It inspires the imagination and brings you closer to spirituality. Photos can provide powerful self-expression and reflection and often allow positive feedback from others.Photography can also lead to a career.

Preston Photographic Society: The group meets every Thursday evening, from September to June, at Fulwood Conservative Club at 7.30pm. Membership: £50 per year. Concession £40 per year

Leyland Photographic Society: Meetings are held at the RAFA club, Golden Hill, Leyland, on each Wednesday during the season (September to May) from 7.30pm. Membership is £45.

Garstang Camera Club: In winter, the club meets at Garstang and District Arts Centre. In summer there are three outdoor meetings, one each month in June, July and August. For a full programme of events visit www.garstangartssociety.org.uk

Chorley Photographic Society: The group meets at St Mary’s Parish Social Club, off Devonshire Road, Chorley, on Mondays at 7pm.Membership is £50 per year, £35 for concessions and £10 for juniors (under 15).
