People power is needed to support the creation of new homes and jobs to make an area of Lancashire an even better place to live.

Yew Tree Farm in Burscough, near Preston, has been allocated for development in West Lancashire Borough Council’s Local Plan.

It provides planning guidance on where new housing, employment sites and leisure facilities should be located within the borough up until 2027 for the benefit of people who live and work there.

The public now have the chance to view the Yew Tree Farm Draft Masterplan following the Options Consultation earlier this year and give its views.

The Yew Tree Farm Masterplan aims to ensure Yew Tree Farm is developed in the best possible way for Burscough and West Lancashire.

It has been drawn up after a public consultation where local people gave their views on where housing, employment and leisure sites could go within the plan area.

The council is now running a public consultation for the whole of West Lancashire on the draft Masterplan from Thursday October 2014 9 to 5pm on Friday November 21.

Coun Martin Forshaw, portfolio holder for planning and development, said: “New homes and jobs can benefit us all.

“Everyone in the borough is being given the chance to have their say as we aim to develop Yew Tree Farm in the best possible way.

“But we particularly want to encourage the people of Burscough to take an active part in this process. All views received will be considered as we come to finalise the Masterplan.”
