Friends of a South Ribble park are appealing for votes to help it secure funding for an outdoor classroom.
Walton Park in Walton-le-Dale has reached the final three in the Tesco Bags of Help contest. Prize money has been raised by customers who, since October, have been required to pay 5p for plastic bags.
From now until March 6, shoppers at Tesco express stores will be given a token with every transaction, to vote for their favourite project.
The winning scheme will be awarded £12,000, with second place receiving £10,000 and £8,000 for third position.
If the group wins, they hope to build a dipping platform over the pond complete with wildlife interpretation boards, erect a wooden welcome notice board and plant fruit trees.
Coun Peter Mullineaux said: “This scheme will offer real improvements to this park and will ensure that generations to come can visit and learn about their local wildlife.”
