Seven-year-old Georgia Fox has been named winner of the Evening Post’s Paint Santa competition.
Georgia was encouraged to enter the competition, sponsored by Blackpool Tower Circus pantomime, by teachers at Bryning with Warton St Paul’s Primary School in Warton.
One thousand entries from across the county were whittled down to 200 after a reader vote, and Georgia’s entry was chosen by judges impressed by her use of jewels, tinsel and cotton wool.
Georgia’s mum Alex said: “Georgia was determined to get her entry in and emptied her arts and crafts box for it.
“She loves drawing and making things, she’d spend all day doing it.”
Georgia received a sackful of christmas presents, a teddy bear, plus a family ticket for the Tower Circus Pinocchio pantomime.
Alex added: “She was made up to win. Having her picture taken and getting the presents really made her day. It’s been quite a hard time for us recently, with Georgia’s little sister being born prematurely on December 14 and being in hospital, so it was nice that the attention was on Georgia.
“It was perfect timing, I burst into tears on the phone when I heard she’d won.”
Two runners up, Lenny Watt from Goosnargh and Poppy Blackledge of Penwortham, each receive a family panto ticket. To book panto tickets, contact 0871 222 9929.
