A park and a social club will get a spruce up thanks to funding from an environmental trust.
Veolia has put forward cash for Jubilee Park in Lea, Preston, and Longton Victory Memorial Sports and Social Club.
The Jubilee Action Group got £26,815 to fund three stages of work in the park – laying new paths, draining part of the park and installing play equipment.
The social club received a grant of £17,814 to improve their facilities on School Lane, Longton. The project will revamp the main room and bar, and the toilets.
The building’s electrics will also be upgraded and energy efficiency features, including double glazed windows, will be installed.
Secretary of the Jubilee Action Group, Alex Butler, said: “The work this grant will fund will bring considerable benefits for people of all ages living near the park, boosting opportunities for play and enjoyment.”
Howard Patterson, chairman of the social club’s management committee, added: “This work will enable us to provide a more modern, safe and affordable facility for local organisations and individuals.”
Paul Taylor of the Veolia Trust said the work would bring a range of benefits.
