Norman and Margaret Harrison celebrated their golden wedding anniversary by raising a staggering £1,545 for Heartbeat.

Norman and Margaret Harrison celebrated their golden wedding anniversary by raising a staggering £1,545 for Heartbeat.

The couple threw a party at their Fulwood house to celebrate and asked their guests to donate to Preston’s cardiac rehabilitation centre Heartbeat in lieu of gifts.

Norman has attended rehabilitation classes at Heartbeat since 2010 when he had stents fitted into his heart to help with his heart condition.

Lisa Riding, Heartbeat fund-raiser, said: “I would like to thank Norman and Margaret for choosing Heartbeat to benefit from their golden wedding anniversary and I would like to thank all their friends and family for their kind generosity in raising such a wonderful amount.

“We would like to encourage others to do the same whether it is a special birthday party, wedding or anniversary. If you have all you need and do not want your family and friends to buy you a gift then why not raise funds for Heartbeat your local heart rehabilitation centre.”

The money raised will go towards services for people that require heart rehabilitation by providing an exercise-based Cardiac Rehabilitation programme.
