A group of brewers pedalled across four counties in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice.
Employees from the AB InBev Samlesbury Brewery raised more than £400 by cycling 100 miles.
AB InBev has a partnership with Hospice UK, with volunteering and fund-raising being the focus of activities.
The company matches every pound employees raise through fund-raising activities.
AB InBev UK sites across the country have been matched with a local hospice, such as St Catherine’s, which helps to forge closer links between employees and their communities.
Chris I’Anson, brewery manager at AB InBev UK’s Samlesbury Brewery, said: “I am so proud of the team who undertook this challenge in support of St Catherine’s who provide an extremely important service to the local community. I am also really impressed, I couldn’t do it.”
Michael Poynton, who also works at the brewery, said: “I chose to participate in the ride because I love a challenge and 100 miles represents exactly that. It was a great day out, and I particularly enjoyed the climb up Belmont after the leg sapping 80 miles previous. All in all, we had a great day and raised some much needed money for charity.”
Lorraine Charlesworth, director of community and income at St Catherine’s Hospice, said: “We’re very grateful to the team from AB InBev Samlesbury Brewery for helping to make the event such a success, and raising a brilliant amount of money for our charity. Funds raised will go towards caring for people with illnesses such as cancer, Motor Neurone Disease and Parkinson’s Disease in the hospice and in the Central Lancashire community, and supporting their loved ones through a range of dedicated services.”
