A florist from Lancashire will find out tomorrow if she has beaten off stiff competition to take the title of UK Florist of the Year.

Sara Barrow, 51, from Goosnargh was filmed for the BBC’s ‘Countdown to Chelsea’ show ahead of the annual RHS Chelsea Flower Show getting through to the finals of a prestigious for the third time in four years.

Sara, who runs Flowers With Passion from her home studio said: “They spent all day filming for the 4-minute clip, I loved every minute but it was exhausting too.

“I had to concentrate on what I was saying but at the same time carry on working with a film director, sound engineer and a customer all watching and filming me, while I was making a bouquet.

“ I didn’t have a clue what to say - I appeared really calm in the clip but I was paddling like crazy underneath.”

Sara will travel down to Chelsea tonight to ensure her display is ready for judging in the early hours of Thursday morning

Sara said: “The first year I competed we got down to the show at 10pm – it was dark and it was so strange driving onto the show field past all the gardens we’d seen on the television the previous few days.

“And then you walk into the massive floral pavilion in the middle of the night.

“It’s quite spooky and really surreal.”

At her first Chelsea show in 2011 Sara was awarded Silver for her creation of a jockey silk from flowers.

And this year she has been tasked with creating a “fantasy floral dress to be worn at a crystal themed ball.”

Sara added: “Competing at Chelsea is the most thrilling experience but it is also the most terrifying.”
