A flasher who struck three times in under a month in the same Lancashire neighbourhood has appeared in court.

Aaron Birney, 21, pleaded guilty to three cases of indecent exposure and will be sentenced in three weeks time.

Birney, of Moss Nook, Burscough, was arrested after he committed his latest offence on Tuesday this week in Liverpool Road, Longton near Preston.

He appeared before Chorley Magistrates the following day where he also faced two other charges of flashing in neighbouring Much Hoole. Birney’s arrest followed a police appeal for information after a series of incidents in the area.

The first offence happened on the afternoon of December 17 when a man got out of a vehicle on the car park of the Fox Cub pub in Liverpool Road, Much Hoole and exposed himself to a woman before getting back in and driving off towards Southport.

The victim described the culprit as around 6ft 3in tall, of slim build, aged 23-24 and wearing smart black trousers, a white shirt and a light grey hooded zip up top.

Police were then called to an incident in Liverpool Road, Much Hoole at around 8.20pm on January 2 after reports a man had exposed himself to a woman out jogging near Brook Lane. The man, described as around 6ft 2in, of skinny build with light coloured hair and wearing dark jeans and a long-sleeved top, then ran off down Brook Lane.

After that incident Det Insp Damian Barrow said: “The two flashing incidents appear to be linked by the description of the man involved. On both occasions the man appeared to be under the influence of drink.
