Flags will be raised to mark the work of the Armed Forces.

As part of Armed Forces Day, Lancashire County Council and other local authorities will show their support for the contribution made by servicemen and women by raising flags on Monday, June 24.

HM Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire, The Lord Shuttleworth KCVO, will hand the flag over to the Chairman of Lancashire County Council, County Coun Michael Devaney, at a ceremony held at County Hall in Preston.

Lord Shuttleworth said: “We owe our veterans a debt of gratitude for their service. These flags are a reminder to us all that we must not forget that debt.

“I am delighted that every local authority in Lancashire will be receiving an Armed Forces Day flag from a member of the Lieutenancy and that these will be flown across the county to honour the contribution of our servicemen and women “.
