Firefighters rescue cow from slurry tank in Euxton

A cow had to be rescued by firefighters after it became stuck in a slurry tank at a farm in Euxton.

Crews spent more than two hours trying to free the animal and had to use ropes and cutting gear to release it.

Firefighters from Chorley and Penwortham were called out to premises in Culbeck Lane to assist the cow at just before 11am today.

A spokesman said: "The cow was rescued using a telehandler, rope rescue pack and Holmatro cutting equipment."

The animal is understood to have been unharmed.
