A man was cut from his car by firefighters following a collision in Leyland yesterday morning.

The fire service, police, ambulance and the North West Air Ambulance attended the incident on Dunkirk Lane after receiving the emergency call at 10.15am.

The man was trapped inside a Nissan Micra, which ended up on its roof. Police said it appeared to have collided with stationary vehicles.

A Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We used hydraulic cutting gear and put him on a stretcher. We called an ambulance to make sure he was all right. He was conscious and breathing.”

Police closed Dunkirk Lane and Mill Street.
