A VEHICLE caught fire after a collision between two cars in Lancashire.

The occupants escaped safely after the accident in Joe Lane, Catterall, near Preston, yesterday evening.

Police, paramedics and a fire crew attended the scene.

In an earlier incident, firefighters were called to Salford Road, Galgate, near Lancaster, to deal with a chimney fire that had spread to the roof space.

They used an aerial ladder platform to remove slates and tackle the blaze.

Also on Saturday, firefighters were called to Gregson Lane, Walton-le-Dale, near Preston, to tackle a​nother​ chimney fire.

Officers extinguished it and used a thermal imaging camera to ensure no hot-spots remained.
