A fire started in the military veterans' gardens at Ashton Park yesterday, say fire services.
Firefighters from Penwortham attended the fire, which started in a skip, at around 6pm after a concerned member of the public dialled 999.
A spokesman for the fire service said: "We attended a fire in the garden for war veterans' in Ashton Park. The fire started in a skip. We used a hose reel to extinguish the fire and thankfully it didn't spread beyond the confines of the skip."
